 During the liquid phase, the fluid never boils or freezes.  Cool fluid is pumped past the heat source, where thermal energy is transferred to the fluid through conduction, raising its temperature.  After being heated, the fluid is pumped to a heat exchanger, where it is cooled and then pumped back to the heat source.  It’s known that heat transfer is “sensible heat” because the more heat (thermal energy) then transfers into the fluid, the higher the temperature rises.  Fluid flow rate can control the rise in temperature.  Consequently, the lower the temperature rise will be when the fluid is flowing at a faster rate, and less energy will be transferred to each unit of fluid.
